The inaugural Arctic Imperative Summit, hosted by AlaskaDispatch.com, was held June 19-21, 2011, in Girdwood, Alaska. The 2011 Summit featured "two days of provocative discussions, investor roundtables and original research focusing on infrastructure development, policy needs and economic opportunities in the Alaskan Arctic." Among the 2011 speakers were Lieutenant Governor Mead Treadwell, U.S. Senators Mark Begich and Lisa Murkowski, as well as many experts hailing from the state, nation, and world.

The 2012 Arctic Imperative Summit, The Arctic Imperative: Cooperation, Investment, Development, will be held July 29-Aug. 1, 2012. From the website, "The first-ever summit of its kind in Alaska, AIS will bring together leading voices in this conversation, including residents from the small villages that comprise Alaska’s coastal communities; state, national and international leaders; the heads of shipping and industry; as well as international policymakers and the news media. The goal of the summit is to sharpen the focus on the policy and investment needs of Alaska’s Arctic through a series of high-level meetings, presentations, investor roundtables and original research."
