Three Northern Power Systems' Northwind 100 kW wind Turbines were installed in Kasigluk, located on the Johnson River about 26 miles northwest of Bethel, for a total of 300 kW; the project serves residents of Kasigluk, Nunapitchuk, and Akula Heights. In 2010, 551,371 net kW of electricity was generated, offsetting, 40,592 gallons of diesel fuel and supplying 20.2% of the net total production of electricity.

Project planning began in 2002 and the turbines began producing electricity in 2006. The project champion was Brent Petrie, Project Manager, Alaska Village Electric Cooperative (AVEC).1
